Long journey as an entrepreneur right? Tell me about it.

I know a thing or two about creating and operating a business full time.  In fact, I manage two! I've grown a successful cake design company, Aspen Charm Cakes & Pastries since 2011 as a professionally trained wedding cake designer. I had a burning desire to become a cake designer but all I ever sold were cupcakes, candy, pies, and small treats. 

From the streets of the Farmer's Market to hassling my friends and family to buy my products, I knew I needed a drastic change. 

One day back in 2013, I did what any normal person would do, I quit my corporate job, moved to Toronto, and enrolled in the best cake design school in the world, Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Arts. 

After getting back from cake design school, I had no clue on how to make money, attract high-end clients, and make a living off of selling cakes. As I started to get my cake business off the ground, I would charge $3.50 - $4.00 per slice. While I was grateful for every order I received, I barely made a profit off my cakes.

I became the queen of undercharging and over-delivering on my cake orders. I had no idea how to run a profitable business, no clue understanding my cake expenses, and how to really price cakes to run a full-time business. I was so fascinated with building a profitable cake business, my results were immediate! 

2014 Started making BIG money + scoring national press with my cake business. I hustled from 2011-2013 and it totally paid off. From making celebrity wedding cakes to appearing on the Cooking Channel/Food Network Channel to being published nationally, I felt like I had “hit it big.”

I went from charging $350 to $2100 for one wedding cake.

It was like my cake business literally changed overnight. I only work with high-end clients, I charge $1000+ per cake, and I work with clients who 100% value my work as an artist.

I became a business coach because I absolutely LOVE numbers, making a profit, and supporting women operate their business full-time. Supporting my clients to charge their worth, work with clients they love, and be well paid for their talents is my jam. 

Look, I get it. You became a cake designer because you have a passion for cakes + artistry.  You want to be paid extremely well for your cakes yet, you keep undercharging, you keep attracting budget clients, and you want to consistently make cakes you love. You deserve it!

Whether you are professionally trained or self-taught, you deserve to charge premium prices and receive payment for them...no matter how long you've been in business.  You can charge exactly what you want. You can work when you choose. You can create a passion based business you LOVE.

It's really up to you...if you choose it.
